The Cortex Side Scriiiiipt!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------i. Introduction---------------[We get a peek at Crash's house. The camera zooms in a bit before fading toinside the house. The camera zooms past a snoring Crash through a bead ropedoor that leads into the garage, where we see Coco working on her kart throughher laptop, Crunch exercizing with a 150 lb. dumbbell, and Aku Aku hoveringover him.]CRUNCH: That diet's a joke.AKU AKU: Well, I've heard you can lose a lot of weight on it.CRUNCH: But ya can keep it off. Just eat less and exercize more.[All of a sudden, a bright light shines through the garage window, causingCrunch to drop his dumbbell, and causing all of them to lend their attentiontowards it.]AKU AKU: Something's wrong. That's not sunlight![The same bright light shines through Crash's window, waking Crash up. Crashcan't rest in this condition, so he puts on a pair of sunglasses and quicklygoes back to sleep. The scene cuts to the outside of the house, which is liftedright out of the ground and into the air...][Now we get a peek at Cortex's Castle. As the camera zooms to the castle'stallest tower, the scene fades to inside the tower, and we see Cortex pacingacross the floor of his lab and Tiny playing checkers with himself.]CORTEX: Oh, how can I defeat those pesky BANDICOOTS! Hmmm... AND conquer theworld, of course!TINY: BANDICOOTS!![pounds the ground, scattering his checkers]TINY: I can squash bandicoots!CORTEX: Yes yes, I know you can Tiny. But you fail so many many MANY times![short silence] Tiny! Go see if Doctor N.Gin requires assistance![Tiny gets up, salutes, and runs off. The scene cuts to N.Gin's office, wherehe has some kinda giant ray aimed at his kart. His assistant Dingodile is neara switch which is unfortunately near the door Tiny's about to pass through.]N.GIN: Dingodile! Throw the switch![Just as Dingodile is reaching for the switch, Tiny bursts through the door, flattening Dingodile. All of a sudden, the same bright light we saw beforeshines through N.Gin's window.]N.GIN: (to Tiny) What did you break now?![Tiny shrugs. The scene cuts back to Cortex's Lab, where Cortex notices thesame light, and appears shocked about it. The scene cuts to outside the castle. The whole castle shakes, but only the tower breaks off as it is lifted into theair.][Cuts to a close-up of Crash's face, still inside his house. He takes off hissunglasses, wanting to know what's going on: there's cheering outside. He opensthe door, which breaks apart in the process. He throws away the knob and stepsinto what looks like a large coliseum with a Winner's Circle and many goblinssitting in the coliseum seats, who cheer loudly when he steps out. Crash isamazed at this, and then looks up in the sky. The huge zoom-out shows that theColiseum is actually a crown on a gigantic goblin head-shaped asteroid. Thecamera zooms back in on Crash, who seems confused about all of this, but thensees Crunch and Coco by the house and waves at them. He also sees Cortex'sTower nearby, where he also sees Cortex, N.Gin and Tiny. Tiny cracks hisknuckles menacingly at Crash. Not one to disappoint the fans, he waves hi athim with his fingers. The two groups walk towards each other.]CORTEX: What have you done, you miserable marsupi...[Just before Cortex can finish his sentence, the large holographic head of Veloappears over Velo's Throne]VELO: I am Emperor Velo the 27th, Ruler of this Galaxy! My subjects hunger forentertainment.[We get various shots of cheering goblins in the coliseum seats.]AUDIENCE: Velo! Velo! Velo!VELO: And word of your racing prowess has reached my glorius empire![The camera pans down from Velo's head to get a glimpse of Nitrous Oxide, Zam,Zem, Dingodile, N.Trance, Polar and Pura sitting in Velo's throne.]VELO: And I hope you put on a good show, especially since winning the circuitwill win your freedom. And... if, for some reason, you refuse to race, yourEARTH will be... destroyed.[The gang looks worried.]VELO: But... I don't think it will come to that. DO YOU ACCEPT MY CHALLENGE?[End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------ii. The Galaxy Circuit----------------------[If you choose Adventure Mode at the main menu, choose to start a new game, and then choose Team Neo, you'll start out with this scene with Cortex, N.Ginand Tiny walk towards Velo's Throne, where Velo's head resides, but on the waythere, Tiny trips over a rock and starts stumbling.]N.GIN: Uh oh!TINY: WHOH!![Tiny falls on Cortex]VELO: Do you accept my challenge?CORTEX: (under Tiny) I would hardly call these games a challenge! We wineasily!VELO: [laughs crazily] It is decided! You will race across 4 worlds of mychoosing. And if you should win each world's key,[key appears below him]VELO: you will earn a chance to race the Galactic Champion for your freedom![Velo laughs evilly as Cortex's, N.Gin's and Tiny's karts fall from the sky.]VELO: And to give you a fighting chance, I even modified your earthlingvehicles.[N.Gin giggles]VELO: Now, on to the first world, TERRA!![Cortex's tower is lifted off the ground as the Cortexes hop into their karts. They rev up their vehicles and set off towards the pink portal, where they'reteleported to Terra.][End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------iii. Krunk Challenge--------------------[The Cortex Team travels to Terra and wins the trophies for Inferno Island,Jungle Boogie and Tiny Temple. We get a scene where Velo is seen over thethrone.]VELO: You've collected 3 trophies, a promising start. Now you must face Terra'schampion: KRUNK![The audience cheers and start chanting Krunk's name, and at that moment, abright light appears in front of the Cortexes, which is hard on their eyes.Coming out of the beam of light is a blue obese tribal gorilla looking thingfloating on a platform, assumedly Krunk. The audience cheers and continue tochant, as Krunk gives off a yell and beats his chest. Then he and the CortexTeam share menacing glares.]VELO: Krunk's speed is only matched by his cunning on the track.[Krunk raises his arms several times to get the full audience's applause. Thenhe looks at the Cortexes.]KRUNK: They will race me? They look slow. Send them back!VELO: But Krunk! They come from a planet just like yours. It's called... Earth.KRUNK: EARRTH!! I have heard of this planet! It is a copy of my Terra![Floats over to the Cortexes.]KRUNK: I WILL race them, and show them... WHO HAS BETTER PLANET!![The Cortex Team gives angry looks at Krunk, as Velo giggles evilly.][End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------iv. Krunk Defeated------------------[The Cortexes go to the Terra Championship in Terra to race and beat Krunk, and they do. We get a scene where the Cortex Team laugh evilly to themselves.]CORTEX: All too easy!TINY: Tiny's planet number one![Tiny holds up 3 fingers, but then he counts them and holds up one. Krunkwalks towards the Cortex Team.]KRUNK: Key... makes you champion of Terra. Also, opens... all world gates on myplanet. Just do not make trouble.CORTEX: Trouble?! I won't make trouble! At least not until I've conquered MYplanet first![Krunk looks mad at Cortex. All of a sudden, Velo's holographic head appearsover the throne.]VELO: KRUNK!![Krunk is startled over Velo's appearance.]VELO: Leave my sight!![Krunk is teleported away into the depths of space. The Cortex Team lookspleased/worried.]VELO: You did well, but you're nowhere close to winning the Circuit yet. On tothe second world: Barin!![End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------v. Nash Intro-------------[The Cortexes enter Barin and win the trophies for Meteor Gorge, Barin Ruinsand Deep Sea Driving. After that, we get a scene that starts with Velo'sholographic head appearing over the throne.]VELO: You now have 6 trophies! With these, you have earned the right to raceNash, Barin's Champion![The audience cheers and claps enthusiastically upon hearing this.]VELO: Nash was engineered to always move. He never stops, or even sleeps.[The beam of light that teleported Krunk appears once again. This time, thething riding on the platform is a small beady-eyed shark-like thing wearinggold/red diving headgear, goggles with water inside them, spiked red shoulderblades and red-orange swimming trunks. This is obviously Nash. Nash startsgrowling, snarling and spinning rapidly on the platform upon his arrival.]NASH: Put em' up! Put em' up![The Cortex Team looks confused as Nash continues to spin and growl like amaniac. He soon stops and turns toward Velo.]NASH: Is that... enough?[Velo gives off an annoyed sigh as Nash floats over to him.]NASH: I NEED to get MOVING!!VELO: Soon, Nash. Soon.NASH: Not soon... NOOOOOW!!!![Velo snarls as Nash angrily as the crowd gasps, boos and hisses as Nash. Nashfloats a distance away and looks embarrased. He gives off a silent chuckle, then Velo smiles.]VELO: Excellent![End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------vi. Beat Nash-------------[After the Cortexes enter the Barin Championship in Barin, they race andbeat Nash. The Cortex Team waves at the cheering audience.]N.GIN: Cybernetic sharks! We should try that! Yes yes! They would make greathenchmen!CORTEX: But this one lost.[Tiny is seen picking his belly button and pulls out a hairball. He sniffs itand eats it.]N.GIN: It appears to me he'd fit right in![Nash runs over to the two.]NASH: GIMME MY KEY BACK!!CORTEX: [laughs] And they make such silly demands, too!NASH: WHYYYYY YOOUUU![Just as Nash is putting up his dukes, Velo interrupts.]VELO: NASH!! GET OUT OF HERE!! I'll deal with you later!![Scared, Nash runs away.]VELO: Well, you're halfway there. Here's where things start to get tricky! Onto Fenomena![End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------vii. Meet Norm--------------[The Cortexes travel to Fenomena and win the trophies for Out of Time,Clockwork Wumpa and Thunder Struck. Velo's head appears over the throne.]VELO: With your 9 trophies, you have earned the right to race Fenomena'schampion: Norm!![The audience cheers and starts chanting Norm's name, and at that moment, theinfamous bright light appears again. Neo Team's just about had it with thatlight, so they all quickly put on sunglasses. Coming out of the beam of lightis a small goblin-like creature dressed like a mime. The goblin is sitting onthe floating platform reading a book. The Neo Team points and laughs at thesight of such a pathetic-looking thing. Even Velo starts to laugh a little, but he quickly snaps out of it.]VELO: Don't let Norm's size fool you. He's a demon on the racetrack![Norm closes his book, stands up and nods no at Velo. This makes Velo very, very angry.]VELO: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! YOU ARE RACING TODAY!! NOW DO IT!![Norm becomes frightened at Velo's behavior and decides to do what he says.He floats down and hops off the platform, then he melts into a big gelatinousblue blob, which splits in two, one of them bigger than the other. TheCortex Team give disgusted/confused looks, then a red beret pops out of thebigger blob and the two blobs take form. The smaller one becomes the Norm wesaw earlier, and the bigger one becomes a big obese obnoxious goblin dressedlike Norm.]NORM #2: Oooooh, a race! Count me in![Norm #1 waves his finger at Norm #2 and turns away.]NORM #2: I don't wanna hear it! The deal was that you race in return for mewearing this dumb get-up![Norm #2 walks over to the Neo Team, pulling his pants up in the process.]NORM #2: Besides, they don't stand a chance![The Cortex Team gives mean looks at Norm #2.][End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------viii. Norm Fails----------------[The Cortexes enter the Fenomena Championship where they race and beat Norm. The crowd chants "Cortex" as Cortex giggles to himself]CORTEX: Yes! Yeees![The crowd goes wild. Norm #2 approaches the Cortex Team.]NORM #2: Y'now, you did good out there!CORTEX: Go away, you filthy clown!N.GIN: No no! He a mime!CORTEX: Mime, clown, it's close enough! With their painted faces and tattoosand stupid little honker things that....NORM #2: Where do you get off callin' me a clown, with your big head and yourstupid springy hair![Velo's head appears over the throne and he looks kinda piffed.]VELO: NORM!! GET OVER HERE!![Norm puts his book away and walks towards Velo.]NORM #2: Uh oh![Both Norms walk towards Velo. They sigh and turn into blobs again. They fuseback together and Norm takes shape.]VELO: Perhaps I need new ways to motivate you, like taking your books away![Norm looks scared as he's teleported into the depths of space.]VELO: I thought he had you beat, but you proved me wrong! You won't be so luckyon... Teknee![End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------ix. Geary Race--------------[The Cortexes travel to Teknee, where they win the trophies for AssemblyLane, Android Alley and Electron Avenue. Velo's head is seen once again overthe throne.]VELO: So you know, very few racers have ever won all 12 trophies![The audience starts chanting "Cortex" as the team waves at them.]VELO: Yes! They deserve it! But now, they must face my finest racer: GEARY,Champion of Teknee![The bright light appears and a brown, green-eyed robot with a red chest portappears floating on a platform. The crowd starts chanting "Geary".]VELO: The pinnacle of robotics! Isn't that right, Geary?[Geary starts speaking, his eyes turning red and his voice sounding angrier ashe speaks.]GEARY: Only a robot can achieve perfection in motion! I WILL DEMOLISH ANY...[quickly snaps out of it.]GEARY: Oh, what a MESS! When he approaches Tiny, he takes out a brush from hisarm, and starts stroking Tiny on the arm with it. Then he takes the vaccumand strokes Tiny's front. Tiny taps his foot Then we hear Velo's angry voice(in person this time) in the background. Geary looks scared.]VELO: GEEAAARY!!!! You... have... The Galaxy Circuit----------------------[If you choose Adventure Mode at the main menu, choose to start a new game, and then choose Team Crash, you start out with this scene with Crash, Cocoand Crunch walking towards Velo's throne, where Velo's head resides.]VELO: Do you accept my challenge?[Crash hesitates a bit. Velo quickly gets angry.]VELO: OUT WITH IT!![Crash pauses and then raises a thumb. The audience cheers.]VELO: It is decided! You will race across 4 worlds of my choosing. And if youshould win each world's key,[key appears below him]VELO: you will earn a chance to race the Galactic Champion for your freedom![Velo laughs evilly as Crash's, Coco's and Crunch's karts fall from the sky.]VELO: And to give you a fighting chance, I even modified your earthlingvehicles. Now, on to the first world: Terra![Crash's house is lifted off the ground as the Bandicoots hop into their karts. They rev up their vehicles and set off towards the pink portal, where they'reteleported to Terra.][End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------iii. Krunk Challenge--------------------[The Bandicoot Team travels to Terra and wins the trophies for Inferno Island,Jungle Boogie and Tiny Temple. We get a scene where Velo is seen over thethrone.]VELO: You've collected 3 trophies, a promising start. Now you must face Terra'schampion: KRUNK![The audience cheers and start chanting Krunk's name, and at that moment, abright light appears in front of the bandicoots, which is hard on their eyes.Coming out of the beam of light is a blue obese tribal gorilla looking thingfloating on a platform, assumedly Krunk. The audience cheers and continue tochant, as Krunk gives off a yell and beats his chest. Then he starts to observethe Bandicoot Team.]VELO: Krunk's speed is only matched by his cunning on the track.[Krunk raises his arms several times to get the full audience's applause. Thenhe looks at the Bandicoots.]KRUNK: They will race me? They look slow. Send them back!VELO: But Krunk! They come from a planet just like yours. It's called... Earth.KRUNK: EARRTH!! I have heard of this planet! It is a copy of my Terra![Floats over to the Bandicoots.]KRUNK: I WILL race them, and show them... WHO HAS BETTER PLANET!![The Bandicoot Team gives menacing glares at Krunk, as Velo giggles evilly.][End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------iv. Krunk Defeated------------------[The Bandicoots go to the Terra Championship in Terra to race and beat Krunk, and they do. We get a scene where the audience is cheering for the BandicootTeam, who wave back while Crash smiles and plays with his yo-yo. As thecheering dies down, a lone goblin yells "Woo Hooooooo!" and continues to clap. The rest of them look angrily at him and are pretty disappointed. The goblinnotices this, and looks ashamed. Krunk walks toward the Crash Team.]KRUNK: Key... makes you champion of Terra. Also, opens... all world gates on myplanet. Visit... when you want.[Crash looks sorry for him. Suddenly, he looks at his yo-yo, and hands it toKrunk.]KRUNK: What is this?[takes the yo-yo]KRUNK: Gift from your world?[Crash nods yes]KRUNK: Thank you! I am sorry.[tries to play with the yo-yo]KRUNK: We actually copied your planet.[Krunk still struggles to play with the yo-yo, and Crash laughs at this. All ofa sudden, Velo's holographic head appears over the throne.]VELO: KRUNK!![We hear swiping noises in the background. Velo gives a disgusted look, seeingthat Krunk is tangled in the yo-yo rope.]VELO: Oooh. Leave my sight!![Krunk is teleported away into the depths of space. Team Bandicoot looks prettyworried.]VELO: You did well, but you're nowhere close to winning the Circuit yet. On tothe second world: Barin!![End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------v. Nash Intro-------------[The Bandicoots enter Barin and win the trophies for Meteor Gorge, Barin Ruinsand Deep Sea Driving. Put em' up![The Bandicoot Team looks confused as Nash continues to spin and growl like amaniac. Beat Nash-------------[After the Bandicoots enter the Barin Championship in Barin, they race andbeat Nash. Crunch and Crash are seen giving each other a high-five, and Crashlooks like he hurt his hand doing that.]CRUNCH: Yeah!![Nash starts to walk over to the two.]NASH: Oooooh! Hello there! Do you think... I can get my key back?[Crash and Crunch look at each other with skeptical faces.]NASH: COME OOOOON!!CRUNCH: You lost, buddy!NASH: IIII DOOOON'T CAAAAAAARE!!!![Nash make a weird noise and suddenly falls asleep. Crunch and Crash look athim, then each other with confused faces. Coco starts talking.]COCO: I hatched a spring to put him to sleep. He looked like he needed some, the poor shark thingy![After looking at a sleeping Nash some more, Crash notifies Crunch that Velo'shead is over the throne.]VELO: That's a first![silence]VELO: Get him out of here this instant!![Nash is teleported away into the depths of space.]VELO: Well, you're halfway there. Here's where things start to get tricky! Onto Fenomena![End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------vii. Meet Norm--------------[The Bandicoots travel to Fenomena and win the trophies for Out of Time,Clockwork Wumpa and Thunder Struck. Velo's head appears over the throne.]VELO: With your 9 trophies, you have earned the right to race Fenomena'schampion: Norm!![The audience cheers and starts chanting Norm's name, and at that moment, theinfamous bright light appears again. Crash Team's just about had it with thatlight, so they all quickly put on sunglasses. Coming out of the beam of lightis a small goblin-like creature dressed like a mime. The goblin is sitting onthe floating platform reading a book. The Crash Team points and laughs at thesight of such a pathetic-looking thing. TheBandicoot Team give disgusted/confused looks, then a red beret pops out of thebigger blob and the two blobs take form. The deal was that you race in return for mewearing this dumb get-up![Norm #2 walks over to the Crash Team, pulling his pants up in the process.]NORM #2: Besides, they don't stand a chance![The Bandicoot Team gives mean looks at Norm #2.][End Scene]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------viii. Norm Fails----------------[The Bandicoots enter the Fenomena Championship where they race and beat Norm.Norm, a distance away from the winner's circle, is sitting and reading hisbook in shame, then he nods his head.]COCO: Yes!!CRUNCH: I feel good!!COCO: Oh yeah!![The crowd goes wild. Norm #2 approaches the Bandicoot Team.]NORM #2: Y'now, you did good out there! You got a real shot at winning thisthing, cuz you worked together!CRUNCH: Both of you make a good team too![Norm #2 sees Norm #1 reading his book alone.]NORM #2: Hey. Come over here and make nice![Norm #1 turns away.]NORM #2: Meh, he pretends not to care, but he's just like me: he hateslosing![Velo's head appears over the throne and he looks kinda piffed.]VELO: NORM!! Geary Race--------------[The Bandicoots travel to Teknee, where they win the trophies for AssemblyLane, Android Alley and Electron Avenue. Velo's head is seen once again overthe throne.]VELO: So you know, very few racers have ever won all 12 trophies![The audience starts chanting "Bandicoot" as the team waves at them.]VELO: Yes! When he approaches Crash, he takes out a brush from hisarm, and starts stroking Crash on the back with it. Then he takes the vaccumand strokes Crash's armpit. Then we hear Velo's angry voice (in person thistime) in the background. Geary looks scared.]VELO: GEEAAARY!!!! You... have... INTRODUCTION+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---OH EM GEE if it isn't that ol' Gbness again. Well, yep, I'm back. This is thevery first FAQ that I've ever done for a racing game, although it's the 20thguide I've done (21st if you count one IGN exclusive). And that's not tomention that a couple things here are incomplete. Yep, I'm lazy, shoot me allyou want. Actually, I had several projects to work on simultaneously, sowell... you know. Since I have got school and the like, I can't really work toomuch. The reason that I wrote this guide is because there were NO FAQscurrently up for Crash Nitro Kart, which was a real shame, seeing as how manythere are for racing games released on like, the same day CNK came out. This guide will basically go around detailing Crash Nitro Kart like this: firstof all, there's this introduction, then the legal disclaimer, and the rules forcontacting me. After that, we'll get to the basics of this stuff. I'll talkabout how to drive the kart, the controls, weapons, and how to become anoverall good driver. Then I'll tell you a little bit about the characters.Following that, the walkthrough will tell you any shortcuts in all the courses, how to get crystals quickly, and anything tricky in any course, together withstrategies for outracing the bosses. Then I'll give you hints for the relicraces and CNK challenges, tell you how to unlock stuff, and end the guide. As soon as I began this guide, I had an urgency for it to be the greatest CrashNitro Kart guide that will ever be made. Still, don't push it on me if thisstuff sucks, since this is my first ever racing game guide. Although CrashBandicoot is dying off, he's fighting has way back to returning, and thus hecomes back in a sequel to Crash Team Racing. Still, I prefer Crash Team Racing, but Crash Nitro Kart is still pretty good though. Anyway, I think that's enoughbabbling. Welcome to this great turbo-charged adventure! The latest version ofthis guide can always be found at GameFAQs (although I'll always have this onIGN too).- Rich "Gbness" Beast+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---II. Also, make sure that no money is involved. If you want this FAQ to besold on eBay, then just forget about it, man. And don't sell this guide either,or pay people to use it, or you'll be in such big trouble you don't want tothink.Another little note is that I will not have this guide hosted on many other websites besides GameNotOver, GameFAQs, IGN, and Neoseeker. You need full-onpermission if it's not one of the four above sites. I am sick of people rippingme off (I have been ripped off three times in the past), so if I don't likeyour site, I won't let my guide be posted on it. I am sorry, but this is how ithas to be. If you ask politely and I like your site, you will definitely havethe luck of getting it up there. Thank you very much.+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---III. CONTACT RULES+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+--------------------+IIIa. E-Mail Rules+--------------------+I love getting good emails, so you're free to email me with a question anytime, but I will not answer questions already answered in this FAQ. I prefere-mails with good grammar, and subjects with Crash or Iwill delete them, sorry. Also, don't send me e-mails about Crash Nitro Kartwith some other game's subject, please. And don't bother sending me things like:"u sux. Everything bout u sux. ur guides suck. Another thing: don't send me e-mails in any languagesother than English or Spanish. I can read both English and Spanish pretty well, but I prefer English. Still, I can do Spanish pretty well, so if you absolutelyhave to send me an e-mail in Spanish, hola. But if you know English, I wantthat, thank you.+----------------+IIIb. IM Rules+----------------+My AIM list is closed, and since there are nowadays few people I can reallytrust, you likely won't get on but there is still some chance, by the way. Ifyou're on, however, don't ever, ever advertise for your site and ask me to workfor it, or I'll probably remove you from it forever. I've had to do this SOMANY times in the past, and it wasn't worth my time. Sorry if I'm rude, but Iam quite busy often and can't stay on a lot, so I will not work for your site.It doesn't matter what it is; I WON'T WORK FOR YOUR SITE. Asking me to isasking to never talk to me again. Thank you. And please don't IM me a lot too, because I have like 20 people always IMing me, and although I hold nothingagainst them, I would prefer having light IMs. Thank you again.+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---IV. BASICS+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---This is just about everything that you will likely need to know to get yourselfstarted on playing Crash Nitro Kart.==============================================================================IVa. Driving Guide==============================================================================Here are just a few things that you should know before getting yourself startedon your racing.--------------Power Boosting--------------It is more important to know how to do this than anything else. Hop usingeither L1 or R1, and a gauge appears to the right. When it turns red, hit oneof the two buttons that you DIDN'T previously hit. Repeat this three times, andyou'll really be driving. Especially if you hit it when it's at the very top ofthe gauge...-----------Wumpa Fruit-----------This is yet another incredibly basic thing that you need to learn. Drive pastwumpa fruit, and you'll get closer to the big ten of them. If you have ten ofthem, your weapons become "juiced". They then have added features, and are justin general much more useful. Wumpa fruit can be found throughout the track, andin boxes without symbols on them. Keep in mind that if you are attacked, youwill lose a little.-----Boxes-----Ah yes, notice how the track is littered with those boxes? Drive through themto collect something... these are the various kinds of boxes throughout therace track.**********Bouncy Box**********Bouncy boxes contain wumpa fruit in them (about 3-4 of them, not enough to getyou juiced in one go). They have no symbols on them, and you'll definitely beable to recognize them if you've played any other Crash Bandicoot games.**********Weapon Box**********These babies are marked with question marks "?". In them are a certainweapon... but who knows? The weapon you get may depend on the place you are inthe track. The best weapons are for those in 4th-8th, usually.********************Special Weapon Boxes********************Special weapon boxes contain more than one of a certain weapon in them. You canget 3 of the following: TNT crates, missiles, bowling bombs, orbs, and turbos. If you get 'em juiced, you're really in luck.**************Activation Box**************Definitely the most important of the four. Unlike the other three, drivingthrough these get you diddly squat. But, they can change the layout of traps infront of you, allowing you to damage opponents when they least expected it.==============================================================================IVb. Weapons==============================================================================Here are all of the weapons in the game. And yes, that means in race mode andbattle mode.TNT Crate----------The TNT is the basic weapon, first making its appearance in the first CrashBandicoot and being in all of the other Crash Bandicoots. Now that I've boredyou with the history of the TNT Crate, when you get hit with it, it's stuck onyour head. You'll have to jump several times for it to come off. If you waitfor three seconds, it explodes and you take damage!Juiced: The TNT Crate becomes the NITRO crate. If you run into that, it's nomercy. It'll explode.Homing Missile---------------Well, it's a shame that the Homing Missile was in Crash Team Racing, yet it'sreally not as useful in Crash Nitro Kart. It keeps crashing into walls, itfrequently stops midway and doesn't hit, and it rarely hits. It's best usedwhen you're really close to an opponent, and then you can hit them with one ofthese.Juiced: The Homing Missile is much improved, as it goes a lot faster anddoesn't crash as much. Much better!Bowling Bomb-------------Bowling Bomb is another useful weapon, especially if you're using it on a long, straightforward path or hall. The Bowling Bomb goes straightforward when it isused, and when it hits something it explodes. However, it's not that useful ina curved area, so it's best used in a straightforward area. Also, Bowling Bombcan be detonated when nearby an enemy by pressing O again. ;)Juiced: The Bowling Bomb will go a lot faster, and it'll have a large explosionradius. The O button twice, anyone?Static Orb-----------Static Orb is one of the weapons that you will likely want to avoid. It's asmall orb of lightning that can be dropped behind you (or in front of you), andwhen someone just happens to drive by and hit it, they'll get shocked and startdriving much slower. It is easy to avoid, however. Still, try to avoid gettingshocked. This will also change the opponent's weapon to a random other one.Juiced: The Static Orb will lasts for longer and is drawn to karts that passby. And it'll make 'em go even slower.Tornado Top------------Tornado Top is quite similar to the lightning orbs found in Crash Team Racing. When you launch out a Tornado, it'll go along the course and track down thecharacter in the lead. Any character that's in the middle of the course will bealso caught in a dangerous gust of wind as well. The Tornado Top will slow youdown for five seconds.Juiced: The Tornado Top has a higher chance of hitting characters in the way,and goes faster.Ice Mine---------The Ice Mine isn't personally one of my favorite weapons, but it can still bequite useful. What happens when an enemy drives into it and then gets frozen ina block of ice. While they're inside it, their kart drives much slower untilthe ice melts. Still, there are a lot more useful weapons, but if you put anIce Mine around a corner and someone drives into it, they're in trouble.Juiced: The ice takes a lot longer to melt, and the kart will drive like it'son ice. Far more useful.N. Tropy Clock---------------Ah, the clock! If you are fortunate enough to find one of these inside a crate, then you can use this and not only will their weapons disappear, time will slowdown around them and they'll start driving all slow and clumsy, while youmanage to still drive quite quickly. It really sucks to be hit by this, butpity that it's pretty rare.Juiced: The effect of the clock will last about 1.5 times as long, and youropponents drive even slower and more clumsily.Invinciblity Mask------------------This is perhaps the best of all the weapons that you can pick up. Sure, it'sstill rare but it's not as rare as, say... the Clock. When you activate this, the team's mascot will start floating around them, creating a shield on them. Also, anything that you touch will be damaged, and you'll go a considerableamount faster too.Juiced: Your mascot will stick around a little longer, and you'll drive a bitfaster.Turbo Boost------------The Turbo Boost is basic, and there is just about nothing that can describe it.If you drive into one of these, you will drive faster. There's nothing else toit, except that the Turbo Boost works very well on speed pads. If you use itwhen you get on a speed pad, then you can do a really good, fast, and highjump. Doing three large boosts is also extremely nice.Juiced: While juiced, you'll go even faster and the boost will last longer. Notto mention the joined effect with speed pads or boosts will be better.Invisibility-------------Not much to say about this, since the meaning is self explanatory... this"weapon" (it doesn't harm enemies) is, sadly to say, not found in race modes, only in battle modes. The Invisibility is a great asset of a good fighter inbattle mode though, because only the character's outline will be shown.Remember that the arrow still will be, though!Juiced: The Invisibility lasts for even longer, and the kart's even harder tosee.Super Engine-------------Oh my god, this engine rocks, despite not being original in the slightest, asit is practically the same as the Turbo Boost. However, if you get a SuperEngine you can use it several times to quickly get away from a missile or youropponent who may have something quite deadly. To add to that, the SuperEngine's very fast. However, it's only in battle modes.Juiced: Super Engine lasts even longer, it's even faster, and overall better! One heck of a good "weapon".Red-Eye Missile----------------This missile is only available in battle mode, but man is it good. It willleave your kart a sitting duck, which will allow enemies to attack, but whenyou shoot one of these off, you can control a fast missile normally, and thenfind an enemy and crash the missile into him/her. Just shoot it from a safelocation...Juiced: The missile will be even faster, and to boot, it will also be easier tosteer!+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---V. CHARACTERS+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---Here is a listing of all the characters in Crash Nitro Kart. And yep, that'sall 16 of 'em.=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-THE BLUE TEAM=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Crash------Crash Bandicoot is the main hero of the story. A long time back, in theprevious Crash Bandicoot games, he defeated the evil Dr. Cortex, who madeseveral threats of taking over the world. He now lives with his sister Coco, his new bandicoot friend Crunch, and the witch doctor mask Aku Aku, along withPura and Polar (tiger and polar bear, both who occasionally hang around). Inthe races though, Crash really isn't that great. He's the acceleration type andhas a medium build. Mediocre turning, excellent acceleration, and averagespeed. Overall, he's pretty average, but I'd prefer Coco or Crunch.Coco-----Coco is Crash's little kid sister, who also just happens to be the intelligenceof the bandicoots. She spends almost all her time on her computer, although inthe third Crash Bandicoot game she appeared, although she could only go aroundin vehicles and on her trusty tiger Pura. Speaking of Pura, Coco also has a petcat/tiger. Isn't that nice. :) Coco is one of the better members of the blueteam inside of the actual races though. She focuses on turning. She hasn't gotthe best speed, but she accelerates well enough and turns beautifully. She'soverall a very good pick, especially in places like, say... Clockwork Wumpa.Crunch-------Crunch originally appeared in Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, which wasthe sixth ever game released in the Crash Bandicoot series. He was originallycreated by Cortex and given supreme powers, but eventually he had a change ofheart and got out of Dr. Cortex's control, and then he sided with thebandicoots. Crunch is still a powerhouse and is a big pile of muscles though. As he happens to be a powerhouse, Crunch focuses on nothing but speed. He'sjust about as fast as they get on the tracks, although he has medicoreacceleration and awful turning. Still, Crunch can be quite a good pick.Fake Crash-----------Fake Crash is an incredibly unknown and rather useless character in the CrashBandicoot series. He happens to appear and taunt you in Crash Bandicoot 3,inside the fifth level, and he was in Crash Team Racing and was on Dr. Cortex'sside, but for some odd reason in Crash Nitro Kart he happens to be on thebandicoot team, perhaps just for his species. He's really incrediblyunimportant, but he is unlocked by getting 50 boosts on the Cortex Team (redteam). Fake Crash is very similar to Crash, he deals with acceleration and hasbad turning, and average speed.=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-THE RED TEAM=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Cortex-------Cortex is one of the age-old Crash Bandicoot characters who appears in everyCrash Bandicoot game ever released, but I suppose that's obvious because he'sthe main villian (besides the mask of evil, Uka Uka). Cortex isn't really goodlooking as a villain though, because he has a big "N" on his forehead, a badtemper, and he's short and has very bad-looking black hair. Still, Cortex ismore evil than he looks. He focuses on nothing but world domination, makingbandicoots extinct, and doing stuff with animals. Like Crash, he has greatacceleration. Not that great in anything else.Tiny-----Tiny is a personal favorite villain in the Crash Bandicoot series for many, although he does happen to be the clumsy one. He owns several pet lions and ina fight with Crash in the third game, he enjoyed sicking them on him. Tinyenjoys playing checkers, and since he's so big there's nothing he likes morethan squashing bandicoots. Still, Tiny is incredibly clumsy and has just donesomething strange to his kart that makes it incredibly fast but stiff, makingit turn poorly. He's the top speed type, but since his kart is so stiff itdoesn't turn or accelerate that well.N. Gin-------N. Gin is another one of the best villains in the Crash Bandicoot series, dueto his awesome voice, that strange missile in his head, and his overallpersonality. He's gone a little crazy due to a missile getting stuck in hishead, so he's definitely not the type to be messed around with. He also justhappens to know quite a lot about robots and machines, seeing as how he'sfought with Crash before in machines. Also, in the races he focuses on thekart's turning power, although he isn't incredibly fast. Acceleration ismedium, as opposed to what N. Gin was in Crash Team Racing.N. Tropy---------N. Tropy is the master of time and fought Crash in the third game with theforces of time and special magic. He also built the Time Twister machine, whichallowed you to go back in time. All in all, N. Tropy is an incrediblemastermind, almost as clever as N. Gin is. In Crash Team Racing, he wasn't inthe main races but in Time Trial, his best time could race you, then you'd beatit. After you beat him in every single track, you could play as him. He'sexactly the same in Crash Nitro Kart, so you can get this amazing, speeding,blue-faced scientist by beating him in all courses. He's the top speed type.=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-THE GREEN TEAM=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-N. Trance----------N. Trance is a new character to the Crash Bandicoot series, who will hopefullystay if there are future Crash Bandicoot games. N. Trance looks just about asgoofy as Cortex: he has a pink head that looks like an egg, and his body isquite small. Still, he is much deadlier than he looks, and he is the master ofhypnotism. He's even hypnotized Dingodile and Polar so that they'll race forhim, and he got Pura as well, although Pura is not quite as important, since heisn't in regular races. Since N. Trance is the leader of the Green Team, youcan expect that he is an accelerator.Dingodile----------Dingodile is a little different in this showup in the Crash Bandicoot series.Sure, he's exactly the same as always and enjoys frying small bandicoots forsupper, but when Cortex, N. Gin, Tiny, and himself were caught in the tower andtaken to Velo's citadel, he was caught and was brainwashed by N. Trance and nowraces for him. Dingodile is yet another villain in the Crash Bandicoot seriesthat is pretty well liked, though. In the track though, Dingodile focuses ontop speed, although for some reason he doesn't seem as fast as Tiny. Still,Dingodile is quite fast. He's also unlocked by completing the Red Gem Cup.Polar------Polar was with the bandicoots at first. You may remember in previous CrashBandicoot games, a cute, white little polar bear sitting outside or insidetheir home, but when Crash, Coco, and Crunch were taken over to Velo's citadel,N. Trance got the cute little bear and brainwashed him to race for him. So nowPolar is an enemy. Polar appeared in Crash Bandicoot 2, and Crash could ridehim, although I have to say he didn't ride him enough. Polar can be unlocked bycompleting the Blue Gem Cup, although it's a pity he still can't race for you.As a small polar bear, Polar focuses on turning.Pura-----Pura is Coco's pet tiger. Actually, Pura is a very small tiger, almost to thepoint of being a cat/kitten. Still, that doesn't take off from the fact thatPura is very cute. =) Pura was in Crash Bandicoot 3 and in Crash Team Racing, and he even appeared in Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, in a cutscene ortwo. However, Pura met the same fate as Polar did, in being brainwashed by N.Trance. Anyway, Pura is mostly the same as Polar is, if any different at all.He turns well, but isn't really the fastest. Unlocking him is done with 50consecutive boosts on the bandicoot team.=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-THE YELLOW TEAM=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-N. Oxide---------Nitrous Oxide is more of a newer character. He first appeared in Crash TeamRacing, and he threatened to turn the whole world into a concrete parking lotand making everyone his slaves if they didn't race him and win. As you can see,he was pretty evil. However, he was beaten and returned in Crash Bash, only tobe defeated there too. N. Oxide is furious that Crash always wins, and thistime he demands pure victory. This time, he's brought along his servants Zamand Zem to outrace Crash. N. Oxide is very ugly and not really that great, since he deals on wheels. Oh wait, on acceleration. Not top speed or turning.Zam----Zam is one of N. Oxide's two pet lizards, who are both racing for N. Oxide. Zamis a new character to the Crash Bandicoot series and hasn't appeared in anyothers, and I can honestly say that I hope that Zam won't. Sure, Zam is betterlooking than Zem is, but just take one look at Zam and you'll say, "Ah, this isYoshi, oh whoops, I mean ZAM." Zam does look a lot like Yoshi from the Marioseries, yes. Anyway, there's not much to say about Zam. He's unlocked bybeating the Purple Gem Cup, which is rather unrewarding, seeing as how hard thecrystal challenges are. He focuses on turning.Zem----Zem is Zam's, errr... brother, although Zem is quite a bit different from Zam.While Zam looks like Yoshi from the Mario series, Zem looks like Velo. Whileracing, he was in first, and I saw his portrait to the left, I thought, "Wow,is that Velo there?" Another thing is that while Zam works upon turning, Zemfocuses on going as fast as possible, although I don't personally find Zem asfast as, say, Tiny or N. Tropy. Zem is incredibly ugly, let me tell you that.So even after unlocking him from the Green Gem Cup (that's where you unlockhim), I haven't used him more than once.Velo-----Emperor Velo XXIII. His image first appears at the beginning of Crash NitroKart, as his face. Even as the "ruler of the galaxy" as he calls himself, Velois quite ugly. His face is all green, and when he appears he's dressing in pinkand gold. I don't know about you, but those three colors do not match at all,in my opinion. Anyway, Velo also claims to be the fastest in the galaxy. He isindeed quite fast, although he gets thwarted twice. ^_^ Also, Velo has a largesecret revealed after you beat him for the second time. I won't spoil it herethough, don't worry.+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---VI. WALKTHROUGH+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---Anyway, here at last is the guide for Crash Nitro Kart. This guide will listall of the shortcuts in each world that I know of, and it will guide youthrough the course as well as I can manage it. Also, this is my difficultyscale from 1 to 5 stars:* (1 star): Easy** (2 stars): Fairly Easy*** (3 stars): Medium**** (4 stars): Fairly Hard***** (5 stars): Extremely Difficult=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= TERRA =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==============================================================================VIa. VOLCANO ISLAND==============================================================================Difficulty Level: *Recommended Character: Crash/CortexVolcano Island is a nice, sunny level. Your typical beautiful place to beginwith. =) Anyway, collect the crates right in front of you and soon to the left, you will come to a small gap to go through, with a little hill right near it.You'll want to speed up by doing several boosts right before cutting throughthere. If you manage to do this, you can go really fast on that hill and jumpall the way up to cliff above. Then that will give you a shortcut over to thebridge right ahead. Another tactic (although not recommended) would be tointentionally fall in the water, and then Aku Aku will place you on the cliff.Once you jump down to the bridge, drive forward to the beach. You will thenfind two ramps. The upper one will get you to two boxes, and the lower one (theone on the right) will jump you down to an X-box (no pun intended, and from nowon I'll call them special weapon boxes). Keep in mind that the lower one is abit harder to take, unless you're playing as Coco/N.Gin. It's averagedifficulty as Crash/Cortex though. Once you've done that, just drive over tothe left and then go straightforward and you'll reach a speed pad to the right. It may be a good idea to do a few boosts here. After getting a little bit of speed on your wheels, drive as fast as you can tothe left, and then you'll find a small ramp on the right, and a path to theleft (below it). This is just like before, and really neither path is faster, even though the upper one has a speed pad on it. Also, there's a special weaponbox at the end of it that you'll need to jump pretty high to get. Anyways, takewhichever path you want. Keep in mind the upper one has a speed pad though.Once you've got that done, just drive forward from both of them, take a left, and you'll find yourself back at the beginning of the course.==============================================================================VIb. JUNGLE BOOGIE==============================================================================Difficulty Level: *Recommended Character: Crunch/TinyThis track could get a bit confusing at the first see, although it is reallyvery easy to navigate and a pretty good course with two shortcuts. Get a goodstart at the beginning of the track, then immediately jump. Wait for the gaugeon the right to turn red three times (yes, you'll need this much time and thismuch speed to do the shortcut), and then look over to the right. Don't jumpdown below to the water, just jump over to the ledge right above. This is thefirst shortcut. You may want to hug the wall on the right a little bit to makesure you don't fall off though, but there's a special weapon box right there. When that ledge reaches its end, hop down and you'll come to a lot of Wumpaboxes and a few weapon boxes too... try to drive through as many wumpa boxes aspossible to get juiced quickly. After getting them, just speed over to theright, and you'll find a path to the left. Do a few boosts around here and thenspeed quickly over to the left. Then take a right and you'll end up on abridge. Do another three boosts to go as fast as possible, then look foranother ledge to the left. There's a rope around it, and you may possibly landon it (happened to me several times). If you do, jump drive to the left anddrop down there. That is the level's second shortcut. Anyway, that is pretty much the end of thelevel. There are a few weapon boxes on the way, so you may want to get those aswell. Speed a little bit over to the left, then drop down to the bottom andcontinue forward, to arrive back at the beginning of the course. When you reachthe beginning, do some more speed boosts, but try very hard not to miss theledge on the right to take the shortcut. If you go too fast, you'll miss it. Becareful, and don't fall off of it either.==============================================================================VIc. TINY TEMPLE==============================================================================Difficulty Level: **Recommended Character: Crunch/TinyTiny Temple is a good, straightforward level, even more so than Jungle Boogie.Anyway, as you begin it may be a good idea to get some really good speed on theramp ahead of you, then start rushing forward and take an immediate left tomeet up with another ramp, and two faces breathing fire below the ramp. Takethe ramp, and when you land back on the ground you will be speeding for atleast five seconds, especially if you're Crunch or Tiny. Once you do that, continue and then head downhill and you'll find an activation box and twotunnels to take. The activation box will make some faces start breathing fire. First of all, ineither tunnel it'll be one side with a face, the other side, then the firstside, then what was the second, and then the paths will meet up. Take whicheverone you want, although this part will be easier if you're ahead of the otherracers and make it across before any racers get to the activation box, becauseyou'll have less risk of getting flamed. Just be careful, since you don't wantto get stunned. After getting out of there, just take a left and then get outof that room to head forward. You will meet another ramp after you make your way through there. Use it to goa little faster, but I remind you that after you go a little further, you willfind several creatures along the track that will try to get in your way andstun you. Try to avoid them. The ramps do a good job of helping you avoid them,so use them. Continue to drive onward until you get to a really large jump andthen land back at the beginning of the course. Now prepare for none otherthan... the KRUNK!==============================================================================VId. KRUNK==============================================================================Difficulty Level: **Recommended Character: Crunch/TinyThe race with Krunk takes place in Jungle Boogie. Krunk is quite easy tooutrace, although he will lay out about three weapons for every normal box thathe collects. It will be a bad idea to stay right behind him. Instead, note thathe doesn't take the shortcuts. You'll get far ahead of him if you can take bothshortcuts at least once. That way, you need never worry about Krunk, since allof his attacks will be right behind you. After that is over, Crash gives Krunkhis yo-yo if you're on Team Bandicoot, and Cortex will threaten to take overTerra if you're on Team Cortex. Either way, you can now go to Barin.==============================================================================VIe. TEMPLE TURMOIL==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ***Recommended Character: Coco/N. GinYep, this is the special level of Terra. To begin this course, drive slowlyover to the left to get a crystal there, and then drive across the round coursefour times to get any single crystal you find in your way. Coco or N. Gin aregood for this. However, you'll find in the center four crystals that need somejumps to be gotten. I recommend only going in there once you've gone behind anyobjects on this course and taken any hills to jump up to crystals until you get16 of them. Then drive up to the center and get two of them, one by jumping andone by driving, then return back and get the last two. It shouldn't really betoo difficult.=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- BARIN -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==============================================================================VIf. METEOR GORGE==============================================================================Difficulty Level: **Recommended Character: Crash/CortexThis is my personal favorite track in Crash Nitro Kart. Maybe it's because I'msuper good at it, or perhaps because it has one of the nicest shortcuts in thegame, but this is one hell of a nice track. As you start, get a good boost andthen go up the hill in front of you and take a left. The first shortcut isright to the left. Make sure you're going fast enough, and then when you get toa large drop below, head to the left and you'll find a special weapon box. Ifit's three turbo boosts, make sure you save these up for a slightly hardershortcut. Drive to the speed pad and drop down to the ground.Drive past the small amount of ice on the track, and collect the wumpa crate onthe left. Then take a left and you'll find a blue pad. This type of pad willallow you to jump into the air and collect stuff up there. In this case, it's aWumpa crate up there. It's not really important, but an extra 3-4 Wumpas neverhurt anyone. After you collect those, drive down that hill and head to theright, and then we're just about at Meteor Gorge's second shortcut, and perhapsthe game's fastest one. You'll find a speed pad right in front of you. Do threeEXCELLENT boosts, and when you get to the speed pad, take a left.If you go fast enough, you'll land on an island across the lava down below. Doanother jump to get the other side of this area. Two jumps instead of halfwayaround what would be a circular track. Not bad! Anyway, that pretty muchfinishes Meteor Gorge. Continue and you'll end up at the finish line at last, and by now you should be going fast enough to easily take the shortcut to theleft (the one with the ice below). There's a reason I love this course, andthat's that shortcut.==============================================================================VIg. BARIN RUINS==============================================================================Difficulty Level: **Recommended Character: Crash/CortexBefore you even begin, you will notice in front of you, four boxes. However, there is a small hill of ice to the right, which prevents you from getting thema little quicker. There's also a large titan storming around, in which you willwant to avoid being caught under. You may want to drive across the center toget those boxes. After that, you will enter a cave. Do some power boosts insideit and jump out of it, then below you will see a large deal of lava below. Onceagain, don't take too many risks. You can drive close to the edges of the pathyou are on to get some special weapon boxes though.Once you finish that, you will have to take several turns to the right.Continue doing that until you find a tunnel to go through. You'll find severalwumpa crates and special weapon boxes in here, but there are also a fewobstacles. Drive carefully, and then you'll find a small hill on the right, anda little passageway right above it which will lead to the finish line. If youplan to take this, locate it ahead of you and do three really large boosts onthe hill to get inside. Be warned that a bit before the finish line is a largetitan, though.==============================================================================VIh. DEEP SEA DRIVING==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ***Recommended: Coco/N. GinDeep Sea Driving is the game's first "hard" course. Not saying that it's verydifficult, but it's much harder than the first five courses. Get a good startas you begin, and then head forward. There is a small shortcut right in frontof you, and that's cutting through the land right in front of you instead oftaking the path to the right. It's only recommended if you have a really goodspeed on it though, because driving through it will REALLY slow you down. If orif you don't do that, then you'll have two tunnels through the sea in front ofyou. It doesn't matter which one you take; both are fast and give you crates.Continue driving onward, and then take a right. You'll then land on a series ofpaths. Drive across three of them, and then you'll find a path to the right, way below the path you are on. If you go pretty fast on the speed pad, itshould be no problem taking it, and it will save you a little bit of time. After you land, take a right, then drive past the pillar and take a left, andyou'll end up in another long tunnel through the sea. I can't really give astrategy for this, but there are several obstacles around here, and you candrive up to get other crates. Try to avoid the obstacles by timing yourself, and then you'll wind up back at the beginning.==============================================================================VIi. NASH==============================================================================Difficulty Level: **Recommended Character: Coco/N. GinThis race takes place in Deep Sea Driving. Alright now, racing Nash is likeracing Krunk, although Nash is slightly more dangerous. He will place teeth andshark mouths behind him very frequently, and they're hard to dodge. Try andavoid getting right behind him, and stay in the air a lot. Fortunately, Nashdoesn't take the main shortcut in Deep Sea Driving, so you should be able tokeep a lead on him. However, don't try too hard. Try and move around a bit whenyou're on the straight paths before you can take the shortcut, and you shouldbe just fine.==============================================================================VIj. FROZEN FRENZY==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ***Recommended Character: Crash/CortexYou'll begin in a small cave. I recommend driving very slowly while you're init, so that you can get all of the crystals inside the cave. It may, however,be a good idea to get half of the crystals right now and then get the restlater. After you get all the crystals in the cave, head out into the mainarena, and you'll find several ramps leading to a higher ground. What youshould do is first get up there, then do a full circle around the higher ground(it's entirely circular), while avoiding TNT crates. Then get on all of theramps and collect the crystals there, and if any crystal remain in the cave inthe center, collect them. You should be able to do all this in the given time.=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= FENOMENA =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==============================================================================VIk. OUT OF TIME==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ***Recommended Character: Crash/CortexOut of Time has two shortcuts right at the beginning of the level. Shortlyafter you start at the beginning of the level, you'll find two blue jump padsin front of you. They will alternate which one will be up, and the first smallshortcut on this level can only be taken if you take a jump pad. Time it sothat one of them is up when you drive by, and when you're in the air take alarge right through the sand, and you'll already be ahead of the other racers!Just drive a little bit further while boosting a LOT, this is what is requiredfor the next shortcut.Make sure that you're going extremely fast, and then look for the above arrowon the right. There is a fence below it, and between the arrow and the fence isa gap to drive through. You'll have to go REALLY fast to head between them, anddon't fret if you don't do it on your first time through. This is honestly oneof the hardest shortcuts in the game to take. If you do manage to do thisthough, continue driving to the left, even though it'll say that you're drivingthe wrong way when you're not at first, however. If you don't make it, gostraight and head to the left, then continue down the road. You will then come to a long path, and a large clock on the right. Just head onstraight forward, and then drop down and go forward. Drive over to the right, and then just head up the next hill and drop down to a new area. You'll findseveral dunes around here, with holes in all of them. Stay as far away fromthem as possible (the dunes alternate from right to left to right to left, etc;with this being the case, drive across the center of the road), or large wormsinside the holes will eat your character, then spit him out, greatly slowingyou down. Avoid this happening at all costs.Anyway, after you make it past the dunes there's not really much more to thislevel that's left. Take a right after you go through the area with the dunes, and then drive down the next road. This would be a good place to get someboosts, so keep that in mind. Just a little bit further, you will end up backat the entrance, again. Now usually with me anyway, the ramp up in the firstlap is the ramp down in the second lap. Usually, the ramp that was down whenyou passed this area will be the one you take this time. Keep that in mind onyour second way through.==============================================================================VIl. CLOCKWORK WUMPA==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ****Recommended Character: Coco/N. GinClockwork Wumpa is probably the most difficult course in the whole of CrashNitro Kart. It requires a lot of turns, it has several tricks and traps, andit's plain out not an easy course. It also has a few shortcuts. :) Anyway, assoon as you begin, start going really fast and then head up the ramp facingyou, then turn to the right. Hurry down a little, and you'll find a huge gearspinning in the middle of the area. Try to avoid this as best as possible, asit'll squash you and if you go too far into it, you'll fall off the course. Notexactly a help for your speed.Hug the right wall a little bit and just continue behind the gear, then head upanother ramp and to the right you'll find another gear just like the last, except there's no wall and it's on the right. This time, go to the left of thegear, but try not to go too fast, and centralize yourself. Otherwise you mayfall off the course or into the gear. After you get past it, go to the rightand then in front of you, you'll find a few wheels and a path to the left. Thewheels are the shortcut. This is one of the weirdest shortcuts, but anyway...continue driving forward and fall onto the wheel.DO NOT do any boosts on these wheels by any means. If you do, the directionthat you try to boost in will be the direction that you fall off of the wheel.Anyway, just jump to each wheel, and then do a jump to the path ahead of you.Take a small left, and then use the speed pad to land at a lower bridge. You'llfind an Activation Box in front of you. If you drive through this, a hugetrapdoor in front of the next area will open. Try to avoid this trapdoor unlessyou're in 7th or 8th and haven't driven through the Activation Box. Fallingthrough the trapdoor is equivalent to falling off the course. Be careful.Once you manage to get into this room, take a right and start doing three longpower boosts. Make sure you're speeding as fast as you can and when you get tothe ramp, do a large jump and you'll get to the bridge above the track. Fromhere, just continue until the bridge comes to an end, then drop down to thetrack itself and go over to the speed pads. Then get down to the bottom andjust drive a little bit forward. Go to the left, and eventually you'll get outof this room. Then go up the ramp and take a right from there, and that's thetrack of Clockwork Wumpa complete.==============================================================================VIm. THUNDER STRUCK==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ***Recommended Character: Coco/N. GinThis is the single most straight course in the whole game. Really, it doesn'tget any more linear than this. However, there are a couple tricky spots, and afew obstacles will grace your path through this course. Anyway, the coursebegins as you'll go straight, and then you'll have to take a few turns to theright. After that, you'll drop down a few steps. If you happen to be going forthe CNK Challenge, remember not to miss the C to the right of the first step,as it is easily overlooked! Once you get finished with that, take a sharp rightturn, and then take a left turn and another small right one.You will then get to a path going up. Avoid the spiky obstacles on the waythough, as they will be guarding speed pads. The speed pads really aren't worthusing, so just turn to the right, then to the left, and take another left turnand you'll be better off than taking a speed pad that doesn't make you go muchfaster and getting hit at the same time. After that, you'll go through morelinear driving, and you'll take another path up similar to the last one, onlytwice as long. Then you'll come to a large drop, guarded by two golems. Try notto hit the activation box, because if you don't drive through it you'll onlyhave one to bother with. You'll then end up back at the beginning.==============================================================================VIn. NORM==============================================================================Difficulty Level: **Recommended Character: Crash/CortexThe first thing you will most likely notice in this course is that you areracing two characters: the little Norm and the big Norm. If you want to winthis race, you'll have to beat both of them. Their attacks are not thatdangerous; all they will do is fire bubbles behind them. They're extremely easyto dodge, but if you do get hit by one, repeatedly jump so you can get out ofthem, and you'll be fine. To quickly outrace them, try and take the firstshortcut at least once. If you can do this and don't get eaten, you'll haveabsolutely nothing to worry about throughout the whole race. One of the easierboss races, in my opinion.==============================================================================VIo. DESERT STORM==============================================================================Difficulty Level: *****Recommended Character: Crash/CortexAs soon as you begin, you'll be on a road elevated above the ground. Nowbeware, this is the hardest special level. It doesn't get any harder than this, believe me. If you can do this, you can do anything. Drive straight, and don'tfall off the road. A crystal will be in front of you. Enter the structure infront of you, to find several crystals, as well as explosives. Drive slowlyaround here, since even though you'll be going slow, it's faster than drivingquickly and having to be stopped several times by running into explosives. After collecting all of them, look around the center to find another crystal.Use the bridge right there to collect two more crystals. After the first one, drive slowly, because in front of the second, you'll find two NITRO crates andif you collide with them, there's a good chance you'll fall off the cliff. NowI think I should explain the layout: there's the main ground, full ofexplosives. It's got several small corners, all of them with two NITRO cratesand a crystal. Don't drive too quickly as to run into NITROs, but be carefuland go fast to try and locate all of them. After that, take the roads above. You'll have to use them several times to get the crystals on them. Save themfor last, however. Good luck!=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- TEKNEE =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==============================================================================VIp. ASSEMBLY LANE==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ***Recommended Character: Coco/N. GinTwo shortcuts grace this track, although the first one is rather difficult todo. Get a nice, good start as you begin, and then just drive to the right. Youmay want to hug the right wall a little bit, because on the left you'll findsome dirt. It's a pain in the neck driving through it, since it will reallyslow you down. Just continue driving while avoiding the dirt, and eventuallyyou'll find a hill and a speed pad. Take the speed pad and then use the hill tojump through the opening on the left. This is one of the two shortcuts inAssembly Lane.Once you get to the other side of the track, take a left and then you'll findyourself over at a building. The next shortcut is very minor, but it'll saveyou a little bit. Do some power boosts, and when you get to a small hill, driveover to the left and then drive forward on the small wall. You'll find a fewcrates on the way which may provide some useful weapons. Drive forward and thenyou'll get to the next area a little quicker than you would have withoutdriving on the wall. You'll come to several ramps, and a few special boxes inmidair. Do jumps around the ramps and turn in the direction they're in to get.Eventually, the ramps end and you'll see a wall ahead of you. Drive to theleft, and you'll be on a long path leading back to the beginning of the course.Remember: this is one of those paths you can move up and down on, but don't gotoo much to the right or left, or you could fall off and give a few opponentssome time to catch up. Just make sure you drive really fast, while doing manyboosts and using the speed pads to help yourself out, then eventually you'llsee a strong blue light in front of you. Do a long jump here, or you'll end updriving in dirt. Save yourself the slowdown, and take a left to end this.==============================================================================VIq. ANDROID ALLEY==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ***Recommended Character: Crash/CortexThe first part of Android Alley is easily the most difficult. As soon as youbegin, you may not wish to go too fast. Once you enter the tunnel in front ofyou, stay off the train tracks at all costs. Eventually, a train will drive byand anyone on the tracks will be ignorantly flattened. Since the train tracksare right in the center, you should drive over to the right or left to avoidit. The wait for the train to go away if it flattens you is about five seconds, which will definitely allow your opponents to catch up on you/leave you farbehind. Luckily, it's the only difficult part of Android Alley. After getting out of the alley, drop down, and then drive over to the left. Then go further down and proceed. Eventually, you'll be dropping down twosteps. At the bottom, take a right to enter another room. You'll find a fewcrates here, and a special weapon box. You'll have to hug the left wall alittle bit if you want to get it though, unless you're playing as Coco/N. Gin.After collecting whatever you did from there (preferably a speed boost, but ifyou did by any chance collect one, DON'T USE IT YET). After getting out of theroom, you'll find a path leading to the left, and a large tower. This tower just happens to be a shortcut. There's an opening in the middle, covered with glass. Do three consecutive boosts right before it, and if youhave a speed boost, use it now. You'll then go really fast and break throughthe glass. Collect the crate on the way, and then drive through the glass infront of you, and drop on the road right on the other side to find two droids.Avoid them, as touching them will make your kart spin out. Try to drive aroundthe center, and eventually you'll find another place to drop. Collect the wumpacrate on the right, and then just drop down to end the course.==============================================================================VIr. ELECTRON AVENUE==============================================================================Difficulty Level: **Recommended Character: Crash/CortexThis is one of the more straightforward levels, with little to no shortcuts atall. It'll begin with a speed pad right ahead of you, followed by a VERY longjump down. Try to go really fast on the speed pad, but don't go too fast oryou'll crash into an obstacle above the path below. When you're down there, youwill come across two paths leading to the same area. There's also an activationbox which will make one of them a long turbo pad. The default turbo pad will bethe one on the right, and if you drive into the activation box, it'll be theone on the left. Either way, it's just straight.Once you finish that, just drive down the ramp and continue to use the speedboosts to drive quickly. You'll have to be making quite a lot of turns to theleft, and then one turn to the right. If you are Tiny or Crunch, be a bitcareful around there. Eventually you will get out of that area and end up on ayellow path. Be warned in the next area, because pink electricity is buzzing infront of you. It will cause your kart to spin out of control, so it'srecommended that you use the speed pads on either side. After doing that, justdrive onward. The next few areas will be very similar to what you have already gone throughafter the two long speed boosts at the beginning of the course. It will just bestraight, so it's not really anything that you'll have to be cautious about, despite when you get back to the yellow area, you'll have to make a pretty hardturn to the left. Once you do so, 'way ahead of you will be TWO lines ofelectric shock in front of you. If you're going for CNK, you'll have to time itso you don't get shocked, but if you aren't, use the speed boosts and take aright to finish it.==============================================================================VIs. GEARY==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ***Recommended Character: Crash/CortexGeary will race you across Android Alley, and he also has two robots drivingwith him, which will help him. As you drive forward, Geary will instantly get ahead start on you (usually) and will drop several explosives behind him. Try toavoid that, and just be careful until you get out of the train area. Geary willget really far ahead of you if you get trampled, which is why I recommend youtake the usual tower shortcut when you get there. Also, try to hit Geary with amissile if you can, because that will slow him down. By the time you use thetower shortcut, you'll easily catch up. Once that race is over, Velo appears inperson and challenges you...==============================================================================VIt. MAGNETIC MAYHEM==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ***Recommended Character: Coco/N. GinAlthough it's the last, I found Magnetic Mayhem to be the easiest of the fourspecial courses with purple tokens. This one is comprised of the central area, with 13 crystals, and two paths to drop down to, on the left and right of thiscourse. First, get all 13 crystals in the center. To do this, just use powerboosts on the ramps, get the crystals above, and then drive slowly into eachcrystal. With those on the platforms, drive slowly into a crystal, then backoff and get the rest. Keep in mind that the place is littered with NITROcrates, so you may wish to avoid them when you're on conveyor belts. After youget 13, take the other paths, drive slowly to get the first few, and avoid theNITRO crates. Then take another path back up.=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= VELO'S CITADEL -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==============================================================================VIu. VELO==============================================================================Difficulty Level: ****Recommended Character: Coco/N. GinVelo is by far the hardest boss of the five. The thing is, whenever you getahead of him, he will immediately opt to fire a Bowling Bomb at you, and he'sthe absolute king of homing missiles. If you're behind, he will always beshooting Bowling Bombs backwards, and he's extremely fast. That's also not tomention that this race takes place on Hyper Spaceway, a track that we have notseen yet. It requires a lot of turning, which means that Coco or N. Gin isneeded. And to add to that, at the end of the course there are some obstacleswhich can slow you down. And need I mention Velo has two cronies with him?Hyper Spaceway will start as you speed forward and you'll find a double speedpad. Velo will get way ahead of you, but just let him. Once you get a fewcrates, you should hope that it's a missile or at least a speed boost, and thenget close to Velo. If you can hit him with a missile, you will really slow himdown. After you get past the double speed pad, you'll reach a spaceway withfire just a bit ahead of you. Try to time it so you can get to the one of thespeed pads without getting hit, but if you can't do that, just ignore the speedpads. After you get past that spaceway you will get to several jumps down. Here's anopportunity to take a shortcut that Velo doesn't take, which will allow you toget ahead of him! When you reach that next area, you may find a ledge, a longway down to the left. Do a few power boosts before that, and on the last one, which should be a really big one, jump over there and then drive forward toreach another new area. The normal path will lead down there too, just a fewmore jumps. Still, this way is shorter. Once you're down there, just headforward, but be careful as you'll have to turn right a lot. When you're down there, you'll find out where Coco or N. Gin pay off. These areby far some of the hardest turns in the game, and since they're straight, Velois likely to hit your kart. Try and go very fast so you don't risk getting hit. After you do that, you'll reach a circular area, actually shaped like an "8". Ifound that Velo always tries to hit you with a Bowling Bomb here. After you seethat bomb, immediately drive out of the way. Also, if you take the left pathfor the first half, take the right one for the second, or the other way aroundif you take the right path. You'll then reach yet another area full of lightning, but it's one of the partswhere you can drive sideways, effectively moving up and down on. This isprobably the most difficult part of the course. In front of you, you'll findsome lightning, so try to drive around it and you'll find some special weaponcrates. If you get 3 Bowling Bombs or 3 Homing Missiles and Velo drives by...you know what to do. :D Be very careful though, as you'll want to avoid thelightning. Also, detonating the Bowling Bombs works well. You'll then reach thefinish line was very quickly. This may requires some retrys, so good luck...Congratulations! You have beaten Crash Nitro Kart. Now try and get all the CNKsand Time Relics, and then race Velo again for a very revealing scene and ahappy ending (or a bad one, if you're Cortex).+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---VII. CNK CHALLENGES+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---Here is a list of all the letters in every track of Crash Nitro Kart, and whereyou'll go around finding them.==============VOLCANO ISLAND==============C: Drive toward the left when you find the gap, across crossing the bridge, andthen take a left through there and do several boosts on the small hill there. Then jump up to the land above, then you'll find the C in front of you. You maymiss it if you go too slow, though.N: The N can be located near the first ramp. When you come to the double ramp, with the left one taking you up, and the right one dropping you down, take theright one, and drive forward (hug the ramp on the left if you're Tiny orCrunch), and then you'll get it nicely.K: When you get to the final part of the level, with the large ramp on theright, you'll easily see the K. Take the ramp, and don't fall off. Coco or N.Gin is preferable for this, but take the speed pad and then drive over to theleft in midair to collect it.=============JUNGLE BOOGIE=============C: At the beginning of the course, just do three large power boosts, and whenyou get to the drop, take a right before you go down to get on the secret ledgeI mentioned in the walkthrough. Once you're on it, you can't miss the C infront of you.N: What do you know, that's another letter in the other shortcut. When youreach the second bridge, do three large power boosts to the left and then JUMPreally high to the left and drive just a little bit forward and you'll get theN.K: Only problem with the K is that although it's not in a shortcut, it'llreally slow you down when you get. Around the finish line, look to the rightand you'll find the K sitting there in an edge. Drive over there quickly, andthen speed back to the center.===========TINY TEMPLE===========C: Just a little into the course, look to the left and you'll find a hill thatwill take you right to the C. Once you look at the right hill on the light,it's impossible to miss it.N: After going through the roads, enter the temple itself and then take a left, and you will find the N right in front of you. Another letter which cannot bemissed.K: The K can be found around the end of the course. Just use the very lastspeed pad to jump really high into the air (you'll have to be pretty high, butIN THE AIR, NOT ON DRUGS, keep in mind) and try and stay on the right andyou'll collect it.============METEOR GORGE============C: Just a little bit forward, use the really large jump that you'll make to getdown to the bottom of the area. Oh wait, _DON'T_ use it, I forgot. On the ledgeto the left, you can pick up the C. No sweat.N: Drive around the right of the track (around the large blue circle) andyou'll locate the N around there. Can't really give more direct information, though.K: Around the area I mentioned in the walkthrough that has the small island inthe lava, jump over to the island and look a bit to the right. Well, it'ssmall, so you should see it.===========BARIN RUINS===========C: When you enter the large half-pipe road, just look a little bit to the left. It's on the edge, so try not to fall into the lava while you're at it, andyou're fine.N: Head over to the U-turn, around the golem that walks around. You'll find itaround the right. Again, I can't really give any more direct information thanthis.K: After you go through the area where the walls rotate around your kart, jumpout and then drive up the hill to the right and jump into the small tunnel inthe wall and you'll get the K.================DEEP SEA DRIVING================C: As soon as you start, drive through the rough area on the left. Althoughit'll slow you down, you'll need to do it if you want to win this CNKChallenge. ;)N: After you complete three jumps inside the cave (after the long area with thespeed pads), make sure that on the last one you drive to the right and end upon the ledge over there. Not only is it a shortcut, but has the N there.K: This is extremely easy to miss, I'm warning you. You can find it in thelarge pipe tunnel with the huge turning wheels, around the darker part of it.Be slow, and be steady, and you'll get it.===========OUT OF TIME===========C: It can be found to the upper-right as soon as you begin the course. Thereare two ramps at the beginning, and only one is up at a time (they're changedwith an activation box). Use the ramp on the right when it's up to get it.Should be no problem if you're in the air.N: Just a little bit ahead of the C, follow the road until you reach an arrow.Right before you reach that, the path will go up. If you're fast enough, youcan jump right below the arrow to take a shortcut. The N's right there.K: The K is way over at the end of the track. Just before the end, look aroundthe cacti to the left and then drive into the sand to find the K standing alone.===============CLOCKWORK WUMPA===============C: Instead of taking the course after the third ramp, jump to the wheels on theright. Keep jumping across them and at the last one, you will find the C aroundthe right.N: When you reach the room near the end of the course, look for the wooden pathand the ledge above, to the left. Use the path to jump to the left and drivethat path forward to get the N.K: Just a bit ahead of the N, make the really large jump at the end, and ifyou're fast enough you can collect the K in midair. Probably the hardest letterto get, though.==============THUNDER STRUCK==============C: This one can be found right near the beginning. After going forward a tadand then jumping down one of the steps, take a hard right to find the C rightthere. Not easy to miss.N: After getting past one of the sloping paths going up (around the end of thecourse) look to the left to find the N. Keep in mind you have to jump off theroad to get this.K: Unfortunately, the K can be one of the hardest letters to collect. In theentire game. Drive onward to the final speed pad, and do three power boosts, timing it onto the speed pad. If you are lucky, you'll get the K. This can takeseveral tries.=============ASSEMBLY LANE=============C: Once you first make a u-turn at the beginning of the course, just drive overto the left and the C will be right on the path; not a very hard letter at all.N: On the second u-turn, jump on the hill (after having done three powerboosts) and enter the small opening in the wall. The N will be right on thewall.K: This is near the metal path at the end of the track. Drive into the room andat the end, look for the K to the right. Then just jump up and collect it. Trynot to fall in the pit on the way, though.=============ANDROID ALLEY=============C: Once you get out of the speed pad section in the beginning of the course, use the right path to jump in the air and collect the C right there. Not hardto get.N: A little more than halfway through the course, you'll notice a huge bluetower in front of you. Make sure you're going at a decent speed, and jumpthrough the glass. The N is inside.K: In the final part of the level. It's on the ramp right before the final dropdown. It's just on the middle of the track, so you shouldn't have many problemsgetting it.===============ELECTRON AVENUE===============C: Just barely after you begin, you'll find two blue speed paths you can take.Take the left one, even if someone used the activation box to make the one onthe right the speed path. ;) You'll then find the C.N: Once you get past the first set of laser beams, you'll find the N REALLYhigh in the air. Take the jump ramp to the left, and if you're lucky, you'llget this. Power boosts help.K: At the end of the level, with the lasers on the ground and the really largejump to the left, instead of taking the jump, use the path. Even if you getshocked, you'll get the K.+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---+++---IX. Well, here's some william hartnell doctor.
Production Code: NONE

First Transmitted
An Unearthly Child - 26/08/1991 14:15

Plot
Schoolteachers Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton become intrigued by one of their pupils, Susan Foreman, and visit her home address - a junkyard at 76 Totter's Lane - where they meet her grandfather, the Doctor. The Doctor and Susan are aliens who travel through time and space in their ship, TARDIS, which looks like an ordinary police box but actually houses a huge gleaming control room.

Episode Endings
TARDIS arrives on a Palaeolithic landscape, over which falls the shadow of a man

Dialogue Triumphs
Barbara Wright : "But you are one of us. You look like us, you sound like us."

Susan Foreman : "I was born in the 49th Century."

Ian Chesterton : "I know that free movement in the fourth dimension of space and time is a scientific dream I don't expect to find solved in a junkyard!"

The Doctor : "For your science, school-master. Not for ours. I tell you, before your ancestors had turned the first wheel, the people of my world had reduced movement through the farthest reaches of space to a game for children."

The Doctor : "I cannot let you go, school-master. Whether you believe what you have been told is of no importance. You and your companion would be footprints in a time where you were not supposed to walk."

Continuity

The Doctor and Susan are from the 42nd Century.

The TARDIS has a different interior and take-off noise.

The Doctor's character is noticeably harsher, and more "alien".

Instead of reading a book, Susan makes her own ink-blot test, drawing a hexagonal pattern across it.

Trivia
A number of aspects of the pilot that were changed for the transmitted version of the episode:

The opening theme music features a loud thuderclap noise at the beginning. (No such noise is present in the transmitted version.)

As the policeman does his rounds in the first scene, the air in Totter's Lane is clear. (In the transmitted version it is foggy.)

After saying goodnight to Ian and Barbara in the classroom, Susan splashes ink on a piece of paper, makes a Rorschach blot from it and then draws a hexagonal design before screwing up the paper. (In the transmitted version she reads a book about the French Revolution and spots a mistake.)

After putting his key in the TARDIS lock, the Doctor starts to withdraw the entire mechanism from the door. (In the transmitted version, he simply turns the key.)

Susan wears a formal long-sleeve dress in the TARDIS. (In the transmitted version she changes to informal, 1960's style fashions in the TARDIS.)

The Doctor wears an ordinary suit and tie. (This was superseded by what would become his familiar costume.)

As the Doctor activates the ship toward the end of the episode, Ian, Barbara and Susan try to pull him away from the controls. (In the transmitted version only Susan realises what is happening and tries to pull him away.)

The TARDIS's dematerialisation sound is a random selection of bleeps and tones intermixed with snatches of what would eventually become the standard effect. (In the episode as transmitted, the standard effect is heard.)

In addition, much of the dialogue, particularly in the junkyard and TARDIS scenes, was amended for the transmitted version.

Analysis - from Doctor Who, the Television Companion

It was always intended that Doctor Who's first recorded episode could be accorded the status of a pilot - in other words, a trial run - if it failed to live up to the expectations of Sydney Newman. The making of pilots for new series was (and remains) fairly common practice in the television industry and the BBC actually had at the time a special budget allocated to finance such programmes.

After viewing the episode, Newman decided that it should indeed be remade. The pilot was somewhat rough around the edges in terms of production (for example, the doors in the TARDIS control room refused to close properly); there were a couple of line fluffs by cast members (for example, Carole Ann Ford got the chart movements of John Smith and the Common Men - a pop group that Susan was listening to on her radio - the wrong way round and hastily corrected herself); and Newman felt that the character of the Doctor, who appeared cold and unlikeable in the pilot, should be lightened, and that Susan, who came over a little too 'alien', should be made more like an ordinary human schoolgirl.

Uniquely for a sixties Doctor Who episode, all the material recorded for the pilot has been preserved (as a film transcription) in its raw, unedited state. It consists of a single take of all the scenes leading up to the recording break at the point where Barbara and Ian push their way into the TARDIS; a first take of all the scenes following the recording break; a brief 'false start' to a second take of the latter; and a complete second take of the latter. It is unknown what sections of this material would have been edited together to form the finished version of the episode had it been given the go-ahead for transmission at the time.

A version of the pilot was eventually shown on BBC2 in 1991 as a part of The Lime Grove Story - a collection of programmes marking the closure of the BBC's Lime Grove studios, where they had all been recorded. This consisted of the first section of the episode edited together with the first take of the second section. A different version was included on the BBC video The Hartnell Years, released in 1991; this time the complete second take of the second section was used.
